Mothers Cross in Gold, the Honor Cross of the German Mother 1. Class. Established by Hitler in 1938. The gold class was awarded to mothers who had given birth to eight or more children for the Fatherland. One of the prettiest German medals, it was awarded on Mother’s Day and worn around the neck on a long narrow blue and white ribbon. The gold finished (fire gilded) cross is in good shape, with a small chip in the enamel on the bottom arm of the cross. The ribbon is the full length neck ribbon, correctly sewn together on the ends.
